Marilyn Hollis

Marilyn has always loved music. Her first instrument was a flute-a-phone in fourth grade which lead her to choosing the clarinet. She branched out into oboe and bassoon, and started playing guitar in junior high which lead her to composing songs and lyrics in highschool. She also played her guitar at a variety of local town functions with a male partner throughout highschool.

Marilyn sang in the high school choir and also played in the band and had the opportunity to sing all of "Tommy's" songs from the rock opera Tommy and a record album of those songs was made. She was quite thrilledl to record an album back in the 70's and the "recording" bug has laid latent for many years and did not resurface until this spring. Marilyn's recent songs address the trials and tribulations we all experience in life and love but are tempered with positive notes.

"Life does not necessarily get any easier as the years go by, but hopefully we learn how to climb over our emotional walls that we have so carefully and painfully constructed, to taste the sweetness that life can offer, to wade through the negativity and to embrace the joys that come our way. As trials, joys, disappointments and happiness come my way, I intend to share my experiences through my music and hopefully someone will listen to them and relate to their meanings. Life's a journey and I am singing as I travel down its path."
